Ruidíaz wore the Peruvian flag in celebration of Sounders after winning the Concachampions

Seattle Sounders was crowned champion of the Concachampions after beating Pumas 3-0 in the second leg final played this Wednesday at Lumen Field. To achieve victory, the double of the Peruvian Raúl Ruidíaz, today an idol and one of the main figures of the American team, was key.

After the game, the ‘Flea’ did not hesitate to look for the Peruvian flag and celebrated with it, very proud of him. Ruidíaz also wore the red and white shirt during the award ceremony and, as expected, he was very effusive about the achievement achieved with the Sounders.

Party at Lumen Field

Peruvian Raúl Ruidíaz, with goals in the 45th and 80th minutes, and Uruguayan Nicolás Lodeiro (88) gave the Sounders their first win in the Concacaf Champions League and made them the first American team to qualify for the Club World Cup from FIFA.

Pumas could not recover from the 2-0 lead that he let slip in the first leg, when Seattle equalized with two penalties converted by Lodeiro, and on Wednesday he succumbed in the pressure cooker at Lumen Field, which broke an attendance record in the tournament with 68,741 spectators.

The university team, led by the Argentine Andrés Lillini, had been the last Mexican team to fall in a final of the main Concacaf club tournament, in 2005 against the Costa Rican Saprissa.

This title culminates a successful career for the Sounders, MLS champion in 2016 and 2019 and runner-up in 2020.
