Miguel Araujo psyches himself up for the playoff match: “We have to prepare twice as much”

Miguel Araujo was crowned champion with FC Emmen of the Second Division of the Netherlands. Now, the defender of the Peruvian national team is focused on fulfilling the other goal of the year and that is to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Although, there is still a game to go to achieve that next step.

In this regard, the footballer referred to the playoff against the United Arab Emirates or Australia. “We have to focus on ourselves. We must prepare twice as much, it will only be an away game. We will not have our fans who inject us with that energy that we need in the game.he explained this Thursday during an interview with Successful Sports.

On the other hand, the 27-year-old defender expressed that he would like to stay with the ‘Cannibals’. “I want to stay and live in Emmen. The Netherlands is a very beautiful and peaceful country. I live an hour and a half from Amsterdam and the city where I am is small and super calm”he pointed.

“Tomorrow (Friday) is the last game and they give me free time on May 11. I will travel to Lima on the 13th to train. We are talking to renew one or two years, if something better does not come, I will stay. I’m comfortable and I want to compete here.” he added.

It is worth mentioning that, so far, the Peruvian soccer player has played 30 games (28 in the local tournament and the rest in the Netherlands Cup) between them he has scored five goals and assisted twice.

When will the playoffs be played?

The playoff will be played on Monday, June 13, starting at 1 pm (Peruvian time) at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium located in Rayán (Doha). The winner of this match will integrate group D with France, Denmark and Tunisia in the World Cup.
