Gold for Peru: Shaiel Rodríguez, Alessio Fukuda and Hidver Silva triumphed at the South American Games

Peru woke up this Saturday with good news from the Rosario 2022 South American Youth Games (Argentina). Franchesco Elizalde won the gold medal in weightlifting (-67 kg), however, that would not be the only victory on this day since three national representatives also won in their respective disciplines.

Alessio Fukuda won the gold medal after defeating Venezuelan Julio Antonelli 15-3 in the men’s individual foil fencing discipline. Then, Hidver Silva left the name of the country high by consecrating himself as the winner in weightlifting (73 kg).

Later, Shaiel Rodríguez won first place in men’s skateboarding in the form of street. In this way, the Peruvian delegation adds eight gold medals in this tournament that ends this Sunday, May 8, and the fans expect more triumphs.

So far, Peru has 36 medals that, in addition to the gold ones, the national competitors also obtained 13 silver and 15 bronze in the third edition of the South American Youth Games.

It is important to mention that the other athletes who have won gold medals are Fernando Villegas (68 kg kumite karate), Fernando Sandoval (60 kg freestyle wrestling), Abel Sánchez (55 kg Greco-Roman wrestling) and Alexia Sotomayor (50 meters swimming backstroke).
