South American Youth Games 2022: the Peruvian delegation added three new gold medals

The Peruvian representatives at the III South American Youth Games Rosario 2022 continue to give away victories to the country. In this regard, the national delegation added three new gold medals this Sunday at the tournament held in Argentina.

Adriano Viale won the gold medal after beating compatriot Sharum Durand 2-0 in badminton. Then, in the same discipline, the winner teamed up with Rafaela Munar to win first place in mixed doubles.

Later, the athlete and her sister Fernanda raised the name of the country by triumphing, although this time in the women’s doubles category. In this way, the Peruvian delegation adds 11 gold medals and thus surpass what was achieved in Santiago de Chile 2017 and Lima 2013 with 7 and 9, respectively.

Last Saturday’s day was also productive as four gold medals were won. Franchesco Elizalde was consecrated in weightlifting (-76 kg), Hidver Silva was victorious in the same sport, but in another category (73 kg), Alessio Fukuda won in men’s individual foil fencing and Shaiel Rodríguez took first place in male skateboarding in the form of street.

It is important to mention that the other athletes who have won gold medals are Fernando Villegas (68 kg kumite karate), Fernando Sandoval (60 kg freestyle wrestling), Abel Sánchez (55 kg Greco-Roman wrestling) and Alexia Sotomayor (50 meters swimming backstroke).
