Sports manager of Cristal: “We were harmed by arbitration decisions in the Libertadores”

The Copa Libertadores 2022 has not had a good participation of the Peruvian representatives. Sporting Cristal is one of the clubs that has been playing in the group stage and so far has not won, although Juan José Luque, sports manager of the Rímac institution, assured that the squad fought each game in a good way.

“The team has competed as equals, playing away and also at home. We have also been seriously affected by arbitration decisions in key circumstances, both in Argentina and Chile”, were the first words of the manager of the ‘Celestes’ in an interview for Radio Ovación.

“During this year there were determinations that harmed Sporting Cristal’s journey, but we do not hide behind it. I have seen the club competing, while knowing that there is a long way to go to improve our level”, added the sports manager.

Similarly, Juan José Luque supported the work of coach Roberto Mosquera, despite criticism from fans. “He has been doing a great job and has the support of the board of directors. We not only value the result, but also the performance and presence of the squad. It would be unfair to qualify the final result, when the team took a leap in competitiveness”, asserted the leader.

Finally, the Sporting Cristal spokesperson revealed details of the departure of attacker John Jairo Mosquera, who arrived at the beginning of this year. “He admitted to us that he was not meeting expectations and would love to offer his best version. We understood it and there we reached an agreement between the two parties”, highlighted the Spanish manager.

“We thank John Jairo for his attitude and position on the matter, which facilitated his situation at the club. It was all for a performance issue, nothing to do with his injury. Now we study and work to incorporate a player”, sentenced Juan José Luque.
