Lawyer of the Chilean Football Federation assured that “Byron Castillo does not exist”

The Chilean Football Federation (ANFP) will insist on its claim about the alleged misalignment of the defender of the Ecuadorian team Byron Castillo, since they assure that the player – who played against Chile with an Ecuadorian shirt – is of Colombian origin.

Shortly after the Qatar 2022 World Cup, the situation is complicated in South America after the complaint filed by the ANFP for the irregularities in the procedure that the Ecuadorian team had during the World Cup Qualifiers, specifically by Castillo.

In statements to MARCA, the lawyer for the Chilean Federation, Eduardo Carlezzo, assured that the Ecuadorian defender has been playing with totally false documentation, since he would be Colombian. Chile seeks its classification in the World Cup due to the improper alignment that the Ecuador team had.

“We have filed a complaint with FIFA as a result of what we believe is a very serious incident in the call-up of the player Byron Castillo with the Ecuadorian national team. We have thoroughly investigated the case to really understand where the player was born and we are clear: he was born in Colombia ”Carlezzo said.

He also assured that they have the security of the player’s falsification:“What we are categorically affirming is that Byron Javier Castillo Segura was born in Tumaco, Colombia, on July 25, 1995 and Byron David Castillo Segura, who would have been born on November 10, 1998, does not exist, he is a ghost. It is an adulteration, a falsification and even a crime by the laws of Ecuador”.
