Emelec captain on the Byron Castillo case: “There are several antecedents in Ecuador”

The case Byron Castillo remains a controversial topic. The footballer who defended the Ecuador shirt in the recent EQatar 2022 qualifiersis accused of being born in Colombia and this could cause problems for the Tricolor Federation.

Sebastian Rodrigueza Uruguayan soccer player who has been a member of Emelec for two seasons, a team in which he is the captain, was asked about the Byron Castillo case, in an interview with the Uruguayan digital media ‘De Primera’.

The statements were: “Here the situation of Byron Castillo is complicated and there are several antecedents in Ecuador. The issue of ages happens a lot here, as well as there are cases of nationality”.

The response from Barcelona SC, the club where Byron Castillo plays, was immediate: “Barcelona SC rejects the unwise statements made by the Uruguayan player Sebastián Rodríguez, where he refers to our Ecuadorian player Byron Castillo”.
