Alexander Callens goal: scored the 1-0 of New York City vs. D.C. United | VIDEO

New York City is fighting among the prime positions in the MLS Eastern Conference and this Wednesday it faces DC United on a visit. The panorama is favorable for the ‘NYCFC’, since they started winning with a goal from Alexander Callens, who knew how to impose conditions in the aerial duel.

The first five minutes of the match on the grass of the Audi Field stadium were underway and the “New Yorkers” had a favorable corner kick from the left. The Uruguayan Santiago Rodríguez was in charge of putting the ball in motion, although he did not do it by throwing a direct cross into the area.

The steering wheel decided to make a low touch backwards, to the position of Chris Gloster, showing that it was a previously worked plan. The full-back controlled the ball and immediately sent an assist into the smaller rectangle, where a large number of players were amassing.

Alexander Callens managed to anticipate intelligently and finished off with a header, surprising goalkeeper Rafael Romo. The quick movement prevented the goalkeeper from being able to react in the best way to prevent the Peruvian from scoring. After inflating the nets, the defender celebrated euphorically with his teammates.

If the result is consummated, New York City will rise to second place in the Eastern Conference, reaching 20 points; while DC United will remain in the eighth box, with only 13 units. In addition, it is worth mentioning that it is the second goal of the Peruvian in the 2022 MLS season, after scoring in the 4-1 victory over Montréal.
