Gareca is confident in Carrillo’s recovery: “He has great chances to play”

The Peruvian team is getting ready to play the playoff for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, against the winner of Australia vs. Arab Emirates. This Friday, coach Ricardo Gareca revealed the squad list for the crucial match and considered André Carrillo, an attacker who is still recovering from an injury.

Let’s remember that the “Culebra” was diagnosed with a sprain in the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee, which happened during the match against Uruguay (March 24), on the penultimate date of the Qualifiers. From that moment, the talented attacker could not return to the pitch.

However, Ricardo Gareca is fully confident that the Al-Hilal striker will be fit to play. “We believe it will come. We want to include it on the list because the evolution has been very favorable and we do not want to leave it out of this possibility.”, explained the coach at a press conference.

In the same way, the DT stressed that he considered the footballer for the notable improvement in his ailment. “According to the medical and physical report that we are having, we believe that André has great chances to play“, assured the ‘Tiger’.

Finally, Ricardo Gareca also clarified that he has variants, if Carrillo’s recovery does not materialize. “In case he cannot be there, we have the arguments to trust the guys who can replace him”, sentenced the strategist.
