Sunderland fans’ excitement over the club’s promotion to Championship | VIDEO

Loyal Sunderland fans exploded with joy last Saturday, following victory over Wycombe in the grand final of the League One playoff for promotion to the Championship. ‘The Black Cats’ went through many negative sports circumstances, but finally achieved the dream of climbing a step.

Last Saturday, the historic English club played the key match at the legendary Wembley Stadium in London, under the watchful eye of thousands of their fans. The match started favorably for those led by Alex Neil, since Eliot Embleton opened the scoring after seven minutes.

The actions were even during the remaining time, but the balance tipped in favor of Sunderland in the final stretch, when Ross Stewart (79 ‘) scored the partial 2-0 over Wycombe. The meeting would not have any further changes in the scoreboard and thus the promotion of the team to the second division of England was consummated.

After the final whistle from referee Simon Hooper, the ‘Black Cats’ squad began to celebrate on the pitch. In parallel, the fans present in the stands of the sports venue overflowed with happiness, although there was also emotion and tears flowed in several people.

Children and adults entwined in a hug, while dedicating songs to the players who made it possible for the club to leave the third division after four years. As in English football matches, there were also red smoke flares, representing the institution.

Sunderland’s promotion will mean extra motivation for the team, which will now seek a return to the Premier League. However, the leadership will have to avoid making the same mistakes as in previous seasons, so that the crisis that led the club to League One does not repeat itself.
