Leonardo Spinazzola will make his return to the Italian national team, according to the 39-player roster announced by coach Roberto Mancini for the Finalissima against Argentina and the UEFA Nations League matches. The ‘Nazionale’ returns to action after staying out of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

The Roma defender was one of Italy’s stars in the European Championship title won in 2020, although he suffered an Achilles tendon injury during the quarterfinal match won against Belgium (2-1). The 29-year-old missed almost the entire season and did not return to Roma until a few weeks ago.

The veteran center-back Giorgio Chiellini was also summoned, who will play his last game with the ‘Azzurra’ when he faces the Copa América champion Argentina on June 1 at the mythical Wembley stadium. Coach Mancini called up Sassuolo’s promising midfielder Davide Frattesi and Empoli striker Andrea Pinamonti for the first time with the senior team.

After the clash against Argentina, Italy will face Germany in Bologna in the Nations League, before hosting Hungary in Cesena on June 7. Then the ‘Nazionale’ will visit England on June 11 and Germany three days later.
