Thibaut Courtois: “No one could take away my desire to win the Champions League”

Real Madrid was proclaimed champion of the 2021-22 Champions League by beating Liverpool 1-0 at the Stade de France in a vibrant match. One of the creators of the title has a first and last name: Thibaut Courtois. The goalkeeper showed off with impressive saves and prevented the goal on several occasions.

“So many years, so much work, coming to the club of my life… I said yesterday that I was on the good side of history and I listened to people from Livepool and other people…”were the first words of the Belgian goalkeeper to Movistar +, after the referee blew his whistle ending the duel.

Courtois could not avoid referring to his interventions and assured that no one could take away his desire to return to champions. “All the ones I took out of Mané and Salah are two good saves, but then helping from above, today no one could take me out with the desire to win the Champions League”he indicated.

Finally, the athlete confessed that Mohamed Salah’s was his best save “Because I had to go looking for it very, very far away, and I knew where the ball was going, it’s crazy, I don’t believe it.”

The former player of Atlético de Madrid and Chelsea said that after the referee added five minutes in the second half he said ”But how can five minutes if nothing has happened?“And he regretted not being able to be at his brother’s wedding this Sunday: “I’m sorry for my brother who is getting married tomorrow and I can’t be there”.

Real Madrid showed once again that it is the king of Europe. The Spanish team won their fourteenth Champions League title this Saturday in Paris after beating Liverpool 1-0, with a goal from Brazilian Vinicius Junior in the 59th minute.
