Manchester United’s 2021-22 season was not very regular and not even the presence of coach Ralf Rangnick on the bench could change the level of football. Due to the unsatisfactory results, the club’s board decided to place the German as an advisor and appoint Erik ten Hag as the new manager.
However, circumstances have changed just a few weeks after the end of the English Premier League. Through an official statement, the ‘Red Devils’ expressed the changes in the sports management of the institution.
According to the document issued by United, Rangnick publicly informed that he would not perfectly fulfill his responsibilities as the new coach of the Austrian national team and as a consultant at the club, for which he prioritized his first position. From Manchester they made the decision in a positive way and sent a recognition to the German strategist.
“We would like to thank Ralf Rangnick for his efforts as caretaker manager over the last six months. By mutual agreement, Ralf will now focus solely on his new role as manager of the Austrian national team and will therefore not take on a consulting role at Old Trafford. We would like to wish you the best of luck in this next chapter of your career.”, indicates the statement.
Let us remember that Manchester United closed the course with two defeats in the Premier League and finished in sixth place, with access to the next Europa League. The standout player of the campaign was Cristiano Ronaldo, who finished with 18 goals and three assists in the English league.
The new stage of United begins
As part of his new process, Erik ten Hag will start conversations with the ‘Red devils’ players to follow his planning in 2022-23. “There will be a break for everyone and the preseason will start on June 27. I will receive some players individually, we want to renew in certain positions, I know there is potential and I really want to cooperate”, said the coach.
