New Zealand coach praised Peru before the friendly: “We will be careful in the middle of the field”

The Peruvian team will have a friendly match against New Zealand this Sunday, in the midst of a similar circumstance for both teams: they are preparing for the Qatar 2022 World Cup playoff. The match generates a lot of expectation and Danny Hay, coach of the ‘All Whites’, made an analysis of what could be seen in the field.

“We have been able to watch many of Peru’s games, I think we have to be careful with the middle of the field. If we allow Renato Tapia or someone else to have the ball, they will start to dictate the game”, were the first words of the strategist in an interview for Radio Ovación.

“They have great quality in attack and that’s where they will arrive, with the services they receive. If we try to nullify those aspects, I think we will have a chance”, added the DT of the representative of New Zealand.

“The Peruvian team is a very experienced team. There are many similar faces that the ‘All Whites’ saw four years ago, so I am waiting to see how my players react against rivals of good quality and experience, who have been at the highest level and at a World Cup. It will be a good challenge”, finished Danny Hay.

In the same way, Winston Reid, an experienced New Zealand defender, referred to the duel that lies ahead. “I don’t know if it’s a rematch. Obviously we would have loved to beat them in the past, but we didn’t. Now, as our coach said, we have an important game (repechage) and against Peru it is only part of our preparation. We are happy to be able to face them and it will be a good test for us”, Said the defender.
