Argentina: Carlos Tevez will be the new coach of Rosario Central

New challenges for the ‘Apache’. Carlos Tevez arrived at Rosario Central to have his first experience as technical director. This Thursday the news was confirmed and, in the absence of details, the attacker is expected to take office from this Tuesday.

After a meeting with Ricardo Carloni, vice president of Central, and Raúl Gordillo (club manager), Carlos will begin his career as technical director in Rosario. In the absence of the official announcement, the idol of Xeneize will be accompanied by Chapa Retegui: the former coach of the selected field hockey team will be his main assistant. In addition, Tevez’s brothers would integrate the coaching staff.

Carlos’s story with Rosario would begin next Tuesday after Central’s match against Vélez in Liniers for date 4 of the Professional Football League. Tevez’s intention, which he made clear in the meeting with the leaders, is to sign a long three-year contract with the club. His debut would be on Friday, June 24, against Gimnasia at the Gigante de Arroyito.

This arrival could mean an open door for the signings of the ‘Canalla’. There is talk of reinforcements and among them are the names of Martín Ojeda, from Godoy Cruz (who faced Central this Thursday), and Gastón Avila and Marcelo Weigandt, both from Boca, would be on the radar of the former National Team striker.

“I am going to be a coach, I made the decision that I am going to direct. I got excited, I’m very hooked… I’m about to direct now. We like as a working group to face the player in the main part. I am going to give him tools not only on the pitch”, Tevez mentioned a few days ago in an interview with Alejandro Fantino.

Tevez’s last game as a footballer was on May 31, 2021, after a loss to Racing for the League Cup. Days later he called a press conference to announce that he was leaving his love club. One of the reasons that caused his decision was the death of his father and the mental wear and tear that he had been dragging.
