Riquelme rules out the signing of Vidal in Boca: “We will have the foreign quota full”

Boca Juniors has had a good start in the Argentine Professional League, although that does not prevent the board from analyzing the possibility of reinforcing the squad for the challenges that lie ahead. Arturo Vidal was one of the players who was linked to ‘Xeneize’, but Juan Román Riquelme suppressed the possibility of signing.

The vice president and sports director of “Azul y Oro” clarified the entire issue regarding the Chilean midfielder in an interview for TyC Sports. “We have not had a conversation (with Vidal), it is not an option for us”, the retired footballer initially stated.

Immediately, Riquelme explained the fundamental reason for ruling out the arrival of the experienced midfielder: “We are working on the return of Jan Hurtado (Venezuelan striker) and we will have our quotas of foreigners full”.

Let us remember that in Argentina only six elements from abroad are allowed in a squad and Boca Juniors has the Peruvians Carlos Zambrano and Luis Advíncula; Colombians Jorman Campuzano and Sebastián Villa; Paraguayan Óscar Romero; and Hurtado will be added, who will return to the club on June 30, after completing his loan at Red Bull Bragantino in Brazil.

In this way, Vidal is left without options to defend ‘Xeneize’ and will continue to analyze his future. Let’s remember that Flamengo from Brazil has emerged as the main candidate to take over the services of the midfielder, but so far nothing has been defined.

Does Vidal have a contract with Inter?

Arturo Vidal, 35 years old, has a contract with Inter Milan until June 30, 2022. After arriving at the club for the 2020-21 season, the Chilean had an outstanding participation and was key to winning the title, although things they were not similar in the 2021-22 campaign: only two of his 28 appearances in Serie A were as a starter. Due to his lack of continuity, the midfielder is looking for another destination.
