Alianza Lima’s birthday greeting to Pablo Bengoechea, champion with the Blue and Whites

If in Uruguay he is fully identified with Peñarol; in Peru, it is with Alianza Lima. Pablo Bengoechea celebrates his 57th birthday this Monday, June 27, and could not miss the greeting from the Victorian team, an entity in which the Uruguayan worked for two periods, with a national title as the most outstanding achievement.

Pablo Bengoechea is currently the sports director of Peñarol, a club in which he is also an idol for many. In Alianza Lima, the “Professor” guided the team to the title in 2017 and won the runner-up in the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

Bengoechea also had a spell with the Peruvian national team. First, as Sergio Markarian’s assistant. After his departure, the former soccer player directed the “Blanquirroja” in 2014, in nine friendly matches, with a balance of five wins and four losses.

During his time as a player, Bengoechea went through Montevideo Wanderers, Sevilla, Gimnasia La Plata and Peñaro. While in the Uruguayan national team, he was part of the champion team of the Copa América in 1987 and 1995.
