“Everything is open”: Néstor Lorenzo, Melgar’s coach, does not sing victory

The Melgar delegation returned to Lima this Thursday, one day after the valuable goalless draw against Deportivo Cali, for the first leg of the round of 16 of the Copa Sudamericana. Although it was a good result, the ‘Domino’ coach, Néstor Lorenzo, did not even dare to sing victory.

“The boys played a good game, but everything is open. We have to wait for the return”declared the Argentine before the press, upon his arrival at Jorge Chávez International Airport. “We wanted to win, but it was still a good result against a great rival”he added.

On the other hand, Lorenzo referred to what he considered to be the highlight of his team. “The best thing about yesterday was the order, the concentration, the intention to be protagonists, as always”, he indicated.

Another of the members of Melgar who attended the press was Carlos Cáceda. The Peruvian goalkeeper began to turn the page and pointed out that they should now focus on Alianza Atlético, their rival on the last day of the Liga 1 Opening Tournament.

“We have to focus on Alianza Atlético, in order to achieve the goal. One always works to be in those moments that the team requires. The team did a very good job. We did everything the teacher asked us to do on the playing field, so hopefully we can close it in Arequipa”, commented.

Melgar will be measured this Sunday (3:00 pm) with the “Vendaval” in Piura. If he gets at least one point, the ‘Domino’ will be crowned champion, no matter what happens to Sport Huancayo, who will collide with Sport Boys simultaneously.

Three days later, the cast from Arequipa will play again against Deportivo Cali, for the pass to the quarterfinals of the South American competition. The appointment is at the Monumental Stadium of the UNSA, at 7:30 pm
