Djokovic trailed Sinner 2-0, but came from behind to advance to the Wimbledon semifinals

The competition at Wimbledon is entering the most decisive stretch and this Tuesday the classification for the semifinals of Novak Djokovic (ATP: 3), one of the candidates for the title, was confirmed. The outstanding Serbian tennis player left the Italian Jannik Sinner (ATP: 13) behind, after a fantastic comeback that forced the fifth set.

The duel started favorably for ‘Nole’, since he was up 3-0 in the first game, even breaking his rival’s serve. However, little by little he lost precision, allowed the draw 5-5 and ended up losing 5-7. The scene at London’s Center Court caused surprise among fans.

Then, during the second set, Djokovic lost serve twice and Jannik Sinner consummated the victory 3-6, falling one step away from qualifying. Circumstances were negative for ‘Djoker’, but he reacted flawlessly in the next two games: he won 6-3 6-2 to level the series.

Due to parity, it was necessary to resort to the fifth game, where Novak once again showed his superiority: he decreed a resounding 6-2. In this way, after three hours and 38 minutes, the Serbian reached the semifinals and still dreams of obtaining his seventh Wimbledon title, which would become his 21st Grand Slam trophy (Rafael Nadal is the top winner, with 22 crowns).

“Everything that happens on this court leads me to happiness. Most will agree that this tournament is the most important in the history of this sport. It is also the most important in my career, because I took my racket as a child watching this contest and the love continues to grow”Djokovic confessed, after his narrow victory.

When does Djokovic play vs. Norry?

Novak Djokovic will have to face Britain’s Cameron Norrie (ATP: 12), who has just eliminated David Goffin, in the Wimbledon semifinals. According to the schedule, the duel will be played this Friday, July 8 at the Center Court in London, starting at approximately 7:00 am (Peruvian time).
