After FIFA dismissed the claims of both entities in two instances for the alleged false nationality of the side, “CAS arbitrations have begun and are in an initial phase”, announced the TAS in a statement.

A procedural calendar is in preparation”, added the agency, although this Tuesday the estimated dates for the parties involved to let themselves be heard were known.

The federations of Chile and Peru resorted to the TAS to seek the annulment of Ecuador’s qualification for the World Cup after having failed in their petition to FIFA.

For months, they have denounced the case of the player Byron Castillo, whom they accuse of falsifying his nationality and who was lined up during the Qualifiers.

They appealed first to the FIFA Appeals Committee, which dismissed their request at first instance in June and then the appeal, in mid-September.

Peru, fifth in the South American qualifying phase for the World Cup, hopes to inherit Ecuador’s place if it is disqualified. For its part, Chile wants the eight games played by Byron Castillo in the World Cup qualifiers to be given up on Ecuador, which would take La Roja to fourth place.
