FIFA announces financial aid to clubs that loan players for the Qatar 2022 World Cup

The World Cup is not only a dispute to show which country is the best, football-wise. It is also a contest where sports institutions can generate many economic benefits. For example, the champion and runner-up of the Qatar 2022 World Cup would take 38 and 28 million dollars, respectively.

These incentives from FIFA now include clubs thanks to the Club Aid Program, which has been in force since South Africa 2010, but was extended to Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022. During the last World Cup, FIFA provided this benefit to a total of 416 clubs from 63 different federations.

What is the Club Aid Program about?

This program was created with the purpose of providing financial aid to clubs for loaning their players for the World Cup. For Qatar 2022, FIFA announced that it will pay clubs $10,000 “for each day that their players are under the discipline of their national team.” This includes official preparation days.

The governing body of soccer plans to spend 209 million dollars as compensation to clubs that have a player who plays in the World Cup, but this concept also includes the institutions in which the soccer player has played in the last two years.

380 mIt is estimated that the amount that would be paid to a club per player if he were eliminated in the group stage would be 180 thousand dollars; in case it reaches the round of 16, it would receive 220 thousand dollars; in rooms, the figure rises to 280 thousand dollars; for those who reach the semifinals, 320 thousand dollars. Finally, the maximum amount that the clubs could receive would be 380 thousand dollars, in case the player reaches the final.

For the first time, clubs will be able to register online to receive this benefit through the Professional Football Platform portal, FIFA reported.
