Miguel Tudela and Daniella Rosas were champions in the QS 5000 in Brazil

Peru is a world power in surfing and this is confirmed in each tournament in which Peruvians participate. This Sunday, Daniella Rosas and Miguel Tudela raised the name of the country by being crowned champions of the QS (Qualifying Series) 5000 at the Saquarema Surf Festival in Rio de Janeiro.

The national representative consummated her victory over the Brazilian Luana Silva -former member of the CT (Championship Tour)- with a score of 13.10 over 6.33. It is worth saying that the start of Rosas’ presentation was not one of the best, but 7.17 and 5.93, in the fourth and fifth wave respectively, helped him to take advantage.

“All the girls were at a very high level. I tried to give my best. I was in the heat 100%. Even if I didn’t adapt to the wave as well as I would have liked from the beginning, things happened and I am super happy to put Peru on the podium and to be able to win the event. I thank the Peruvian team, my family”pointed out an emotional Rosas, for the World Surf League.

For its part, Tudela also shone in the Rio de Janeiro sea. The Peruvian won his fourth event in a row, after celebrating in Galapagos, Iquique and Arica. The surfer, who made two spectacular aerial he defeated the Brazilian Joao Chianca in the final, with a 13.50 over 12.56.

“It’s amazing, I’m speechless. I am grateful to everyone, to Peru, my girlfriend, my family. It’s something that I really didn’t imagine. I imagined winning, but not this way. I’m happy. One more win. Four out of four. Always dreaming of that, but with the biggest goal, which is to advance each heat”, commented Tudela, after his exhibition.

With these results, both Rosas and Tudela lead the South American ranking of the QS (Qualifying Series). While Migue has 14 thousand points, Daniella registers 7 thousand 600.

Among other results of the Saquarema Surf Festival, Sol Aguirre finished third in the Junior category, while in Longboard, María Fernanda Reyes and Sebastián Cárdenas achieved a creditable second place.
