Arturo Vidal shares his emotion after winning the Copa Libertadores: “A dream comes true for me”

Arturo Vidal raised his second title with Flamengo. The Chilean midfielder won the Brazil Cup a few weeks ago after beating Corinthians and this Saturday he won the Libertadores 2022, which meant the cherry on the cake in a perfect month-end closing.

After the victory (1-0) against Paranaense, ‘King’ broke down in tears in the middle of the ‘Mengao’ celebrations. There was an attempt to console him, but the situation got the better of the southerner, who buried his gaze on the grass and used his shirt to dry himself.

Later, Arturo calmed down and expressed his emotion before the cameras. “Today a dream comes true. I said it when I arrived at Flamengo, that I wanted to win this Cup. I am grateful to the people here, to my teammates and to the people who came to support us”he declared to ESPN.

On the other hand, the player, who has a link with the Brazilian cast until December of next year, stressed that he still does not have in mind to return to Chilean football. “I have immense affection for the people of Flamengo. I hope to continue here for a long time”he pointed.

“Since I started playing football I wanted to win important trophies. I am very happy, I have contracts here, and I hope to continue. (…) With this team we are all going to win”he added.

The titles of Arturo Vidal

Vidal has added a total of 25 titles throughout his career. Arturo won the Copa América twice with the Chilean national team. The local trophies that he won with Colo Colo stand out, in his country, Juventus and Inter Milan in Italy, Bayern Munich in Germany and Barcelona in Spain.

After playing his football in Europe (from 2007 to 2022), the ‘King’ returned to South America to put on the ‘Fla’ shirt. Since he arrived in Rio de Janeiro, the midfielder entered the dynamics of the team with the slogan of continuing to raise trophies, just as he had done with his previous institutions.
