Luis Iberico after his double in Melgar vs. Sporting Cristal: “We’re going for the win on Sunday”

Important victory in Arequipa. Melgar defeated Sporting Cristal 2-0 in the first leg of the League 1 semifinal at the UNSA Monumental stadium and the red and black star was Luis Iberico. The striker scored a brace and highlighted the game of his team.

“We knew it would be a difficult game. Sporting Cristal plays very well, but we got a victory that we were looking for and this fan deserved it. We were very intense up top and pushed high. We had forgotten about that and today it could be recovered ”said the hero of the day at the UNSA Monument.

Luis Iberico knows that Melgar only did half the task, so they will have to seek to close their classification to the final on Sunday, taking precautions not to have a bad time against Sporting Cristal, who are usually overwhelming, offensively, when they play as local.

“We have always been the same group. We know that in Lima it will be very complicated, but we will also go for the result. The group is very united, very strong and we are going for the win on Sunday”added the forward of the Arequipa team in dialogue with Golperu.

Sporting Cristal will receive Melgar this Sunday, November 6 at the National Stadium for the semi-final second leg of the Peruvian tournament.
