The reason for his expulsion: Luis Advíncula headed a player in Boca vs. Racing | VIDEO

Racing won the final of the Champions Trophy against Boca Juniors 2-1 in a very eventful match, as it left 10 expelled (7 from ‘Xeneize’ and 3 from ‘Academy’). Among the players who saw the red card were Luis Advíncula and Carlos Zambrano who were booked in the final minutes of extra time.

It all started when Carlos Alcaraz scored the winning goal at 118′ and celebrated in front of the ‘Blue and Gold’ fans. The player’s attitude upset those led by Hugo Ibarra who went to claim him, while Emiliano Insúa also shouted the goal at the rival fandom and that annoyed the popular ‘Bolt’

The SportsCenter cameras focused on the precise moment in which the right back faced the defender and headed him. Instantly, the defender threw himself to the ground, while the other Racing players came to the rescue.

After the incident, referee Facundo Tello sent Carlos Zambrano to the showers, who left upset and had to be calmed down by his teammates. Later, he showed the red card to Luis Advíncula for the aggression.

Likewise, the judge also expelled Carlos Alcaraz, since he considered that he provoked his celebrations. Diego Hernán Gonzáles received the same sanction in the ‘Xeneize’. After the resumption of the game, three athletes ran with that bad luck: Jonathan Galván (Racing), while in Boca, Frank Fabra and Darío Benedetto were reprimanded.

It is important to mention that at the end of the 90 minutes, Sebastián Villa and Johan Carbonero retired to the showers. At the beginning of additional time, the same thing happened with Alan Varela and even the DT of the “Blue and Gold”, Hugo Ibarra, was also expelled.
