Bellina regarding the future of Alianza: the doubt about Farfán and the renewal of ‘Chicho’ and Barcos

Alianza Lima reached the bichampionship this 2022 and now the objective is to repeat what was done next season, in addition to having a better role in the Copa Libertadores. In this sense, José Bellina, sports manager of the La Victoria club, referred to the decisions that are already being made in the planning of the 2023 campaign.

“We are very happy, it has been a very hard year. There was a great effort from the institution to achieve this (the title), but there is no rest. We are going to prepare everything for next year”began the blue and white spokesman in an interview for Movistar Deportes.

Then, Bellina referred to Guillermo Salas’ contract extension: “We spoke with ‘Chicho’ a few weeks ago. Regardless of the outcome of the final, we wanted him to continue coaching the professional team. We still haven’t agreed 100% on it, we haven’t formalized it, but he already knows our intentions for him to continue and we know of his intention to want to continue. Surely in the next few days we will be able to give something concrete “.

In the same way, Alianza’s sports manager confessed that the initial plan had been to have the national coach for only two dates, since they were going to evaluate other options. “We saw how the team reacted under his command, we always left that possibility open (for him to continue). To say right now that we imagined this situation (winning the title), the truth was that it was difficult, but we always trusted his work, which he had been demonstrating for some time before ”he pointed out.

In addition, José Bellina highlighted two key qualities of Salas: “First, we see the different forms that he demonstrated for different parties and context, whether in Matute or province; and second, that he has an extraordinary relationship with the players, because there is a special attachment of his technical command to the soccer players. Those are fundamental aspects for him to continue ”.

On the other hand, the manager indicated that the plan is to maintain the team’s base, although the priority for now is to renew ‘Chicho’. “We want to strengthen ourselves and take a leap in quality, to seek the three-time championship and fight in the Copa Libertadores. Although there are positions that have greater depth, we want to strengthen all lines”indicated.

In this sense, the manager confirmed that they have had conversations with the environment of Gabriel Costa and Bryan Reyna: “We saw what their situations are like, if they are real options, because they are players that we like a lot”. Finally, José Bellina highlighted that there have already been negotiations for Hernán Barcos to continue at the club; while with Jefferson Farfán they will talk, “to know what he wants and if he has the energy to continue”.
