Gabriel Martinelli dreams of Premier League and Champions League glory but insists he and his Arsenal teammates must keep both feet on the ground.
With the domestic season on hold ahead of the World Cup, Arsenal will be five points ahead of defending champions Manchester City in the Premier League on Christmas Day.
Mikel Arteta’s team has had the best start to the season ever and hopes to defend the title in 2023.
Martinelli has played a key role in Arsenal’s explosive start and admits he dreams of winning the Premier League title with the Gunners before launching a Champions League bid in the future.
However, he cautions that the squad must maintain the high standards they maintain from the training field to ensure there are no drops.
“I want to win titles, I want to be champions. I think the club, the fans and the players we have deserve to win something,” Martinelli told The Player’s Tribune.
“And that’s my dream, to win the Premier League, to win the Champions League, I think we have to dream, but we have to keep our feet on the ground.
“I think everyone has a winning mentality, everyone out there wants to win. In our training sessions we put pressure on ourselves to win a few matches, we work on passing, nobody wants to lose anything.
“So I think we’re going to use that from our training in the game to win the games and continue with that winning mentality.”
Martinelli has scored five goals for the Gunners this season and his form has earned him a spot in Brazil’s World Cup squad.
Although competition in the attacking positions is fierce, the 21-year-old hopes to continue his good form on the international stage.
Brazil will start the campaign against Serbia on Thursday and will take on Switzerland on Monday, November 28.
The last group match against Cameroon follows four days later.
