De Bruyne, surprised to be chosen the best in Belgium vs. Canada: “I didn’t have a great game”

The Belgian team defeated Canada 1-0, in their debut in Group F of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, but had a dull performance and left many footballing doubts. In this sense, the midfielder Kevin De Bruyne was very critical of himself and was even surprised to be chosen as the best man of the match.

The Manchester City footballer was not decisive at Al Rayyan’s Ahmad bin Ali Stadium and was even uncomfortable during the first half, since he had no direct participation in the game. Also, the times the Belgian led the counterattacks, he didn’t always make good decisions on the final pass.

Despite not shining at his best, Kevin De Bruyne was chosen as the best player of the match by the organization of the World Cup and received his award. However, the 31-year-old athlete did not hide his surprise and expressed his position, with great self-criticism, before the media.

“I don’t think he had a great game. I don’t know why they gave me the trophy. Maybe it’s because of my name and reputation.”, assured ‘KDB’ before the press. The words on the flyer did not take long to go viral on social networks.
