Selling tickets for the 2024 Olympics: how to increase the chances of getting tickets

Do you think you’re ready? Paris 2024 opens its ticketing platform ticket.paris2024.org this Thursday, December 1st at 11:00. Fans have until January 31st to register for a big raffle that will allow them to possibly win a slot to purchase packages that go on sale from February 15th, 2023. Being an actor in the atmosphere is something unforgettable,” says Tony Estangue, president of the organizing committee. And what a treat to see the Games come home! “Then it’s up to you!

Lottery why?

Often during major events, the first-in-first-serve rule prevails: you connect to the platform, position yourself on packs, and wait for the results of the draw to find out which pack you finally got. In particular, in order to avoid oversaturation of the platform and disappointment if the package won is not what we expected, Paris 2024 has opted for a lottery system that allows you to get a slot for sale.

No need to rush to the platform from December 1st. Whether you register for the lottery on December 1st (from 11:00 am) or January 31st (until 6:00 pm), the chances (or not!) of winning the slot are the same!

When you log in, you will be asked if you want to join the 2024 club. We advise you to agree. Admittedly, you’ll get Paris 2024 in your inbox regularly, but you’ll increase your chances of landing one of the first sales slots as the first four days are reserved for club members. Please note that for these Olympics, the platform will be the only way to buy single tickets, as unlike previous games, there is no single reseller in each country. From December 1, the lottery will be open not only to France, but to the whole world.

From February 15, the lucky ones will be able to create their own sets

If you sign up for the lottery, you’ll have to keep an eye on your inbox until mid-March. The lucky winners will be notified that they have received the time slot 48 hours before it opens. The sales platform opens on February 15th. Don’t panic if you didn’t receive an email on February 13th, the flow is constant and you may, for example, receive a notification on March 5th that a slot is opening for you on March 7th.

You will then have 48 hours to put together your individual packages. Because this is a novelty for these Olympics: the packages are not closed, but the sale takes place in real time. When your slot opens, you purchase the available tickets and make up your own packages. This first stage of sales, which should allow the sale of 3 million tickets (out of 10 million), will end on March 15, 2023. 80% of sessions available. However, the most requested events (Opening Ceremony, Basketball Final, 100m Final) will be sold later.

From 24 to 690 euros

Although your shopping window is quite wide, we advise you to familiarize yourself with the program of the Olympic Games before logging in so that you have an idea of the sessions you want to attend. 600 will be open for sale. However, if the programming of some sports (athletics, swimming, breakdancing, fencing or judo) is already known, then for others, in particular joint sports, it will be necessary to work blind, skilled and therefore the composition of pools n is not known on present day.

We also advise you to make your first purchases at the beginning of the slot, as some tickets may not be available afterwards. During your time slot, you will be able to reconnect as many times as you wish.

The package includes a minimum of 3 tickets. Therefore, you will be asked to choose what is called “3 sessions” in Olympic jargon, that is, three sports programs (as a rule, the program runs for half a day). Prices start from 24 euros and can go up to 690 euros. Paris 2024 guarantees that “50% of tickets are €50 or less. »

You can buy from 3 to 30 tickets

You can choose only one sport or bet on the discovery of disciplines. You will be asked which category of tickets you would like (A, B, C, D or First) as well as the number of tickets that will allow you to visit the Olympics alone, with family or friends. You are entitled to multiple packages (each time with a minimum of 3 tickets). You can purchase 30 tickets in total (so one person can make 10 packs of 3 tickets). And that’s for all stages of sales: if you choose 30 tickets in this first stage, you won’t be able to buy any more in May, when individual tickets go on sale in Paris 2024.

If you have a time slot, you can share it with your friends and family (within your 30 tickets). If resale is prohibited, Paris 2024 will create a platform to allow you to sell a ticket you no longer need.

What if I don’t have tickets this time?

The session, which will open from February 15 to March 15, 2023, will be only the first stage of sales. If you don’t get a slot this time, all is not lost! Only 3 out of 10 million tickets will be sold. In May, single tickets will be put up for sale for Paris 2024, which will again be accessed through a draw. There will inevitably be disappointment, but the doors of the Olympic venues will not necessarily be closed.

The state, local governments (especially those where events are held) and Paris 2024 will create a social fund (up to a million tickets) that will allow young people from priority areas, people far from work or volunteers who work all year round in sports. associations, attend events.

The organizing committee is also launching a solidarity ticket office (ticket buyers will be encouraged to donate on the platform), allowing charities to access tickets. Finally, On Location, the service provider appointed by the International Olympic Committee to develop the hospitality program, also has a ticket office. Tickets, which can be purchased by individuals, however come with perks and are therefore more expensive than tickets sold by Cojo.
