Broken bus windows, stoned fans… Racing fans chased in Rouen, constant complaint

Stephan*, who has supported Racing CFF for several decades, has made “hundreds of trips” to see his club play from L1 to DH Paris. “But I’ve never seen it and I’ve never been so scared,” he tells us, still in shock from Saturday night in Rouen. 1st (Racing) vs. 3rd (Rouen), it was the poster of the weekend in Group A of the National 2. More than 4800 spectators were present in the squares of the dilapidated Robert Dioshon stadium.

The Rouen Fans, FCR’s ultragroup, celebrated their 10th anniversary. From the side of Racing, the club chartered a bus with fans, the club’s children and some parents. Others arrived in their cars, with a total of sixty Racing fans in attendance. They were divided into two places in the stadium, an ultra group behind the goal and in the central stand, for the rest, especially for children. On the field, the Racing team was in the lead, but then equalized (2:2, final score). Fans of “Rouen” lit a lot of smoke bombs and even fireworks during two goals scored by their team. “Everything went well during the match, even if I wonder how so many smoke bombs could have entered the stadium,” Stefan continues. I, with my gray hair, was searched from head to toe by the guards. »

“Stumbled upon a real ambush”

The situation got out of hand at the end of the game. About fifty Rouen supporters tried to attack their Racing colleagues who were about to return to their bus. “Fans of FC Rouen came running to fight,” a source in the courts told Paris Normandy.

“The Rouen security asked us to wait outside the fence until the bus arrived,” Stefan says. We heard the bus rocked. Then they began throwing stones at the stockade where we were. I told my wife get close to the wall quickly... We saw the stones fall. We had ten-year-old children with us … Can you imagine? We were close to tragedy. It could have ended in a massacre. We stumbled upon a real ambush. Being afraid when you go to a National 2 match is not how I see football. »

About twenty police officers intervened to disperse the people of Rouen using tear gas. The supporters of Rouen then gathered at the roundabout, where a bus of Racing supporters was to pass. But he chose a different route, accompanied by a BAC vehicle. No arrests were made.

As for the racing team, President Patrick Norbert confirmed to us that “a complaint is being considered”.
