The future of Cristiano Ronaldo at the club level is still unknown, after becoming a free player, at the end of his relationship with Manchester United. In this context, ‘CR7’ has been linked to Al-Nassr from Saudi Arabia, and there was even talk that there is a total agreement, but the news was rejected by the protagonist himself.
After Portugal’s victory over Switzerland (6-1), in the round of 16 of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, the experienced Portuguese attacker spoke at a press conference and did not avoid referring to rumors of his transfer to the Saudi league.
“No it’s not true”, was the concise phrase that Cristiano used to answer questions from journalists. In this way, the striker discards that option for the moment and, as previously revealed, he only thinks about the rest of the World Cup for his team.
Recall that the Spanish newspaper Marca reported that ‘CR7’ received a formal proposal of 200 million euros per year from Al-Nassr, with a contract valid for a period of two and a half years. The total figure corresponded to the salary plus advertising agreements and the Saudi board was awaiting a response, which for now has been negative.
After dismissing the rumors about his future, Cristiano Ronaldo focuses on working to return to ownership in Portugal: he only played the last 17 minutes of the game against Switzerland. The 37-year-old footballer will have tough competition with Goncalo Ramos, who replaced him in the aforementioned round of 16 duel and excelled with a hat-trick (as well as an assist).
When is Portugal vs. Morocco?
The match Portugal vs. Morocco, for the quarterfinals of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, will be held next Saturday, December 10 (10:00 am Peruvian time), at the Al Thumama Stadium in Doha. The winner will access the semifinals and will measure forces with the winner of England vs. France.
