Pepe on Cristiano Ronaldo: “It’s our flag, it reaches all over the world”

The dream ended for the Portugal team and Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese footballers returned to their country after being knocked out by Morocco and, after landing in Lisbon, Pepe told the media about the importance of CR7 for the Portuguese team and the nation: “It’s our Portuguese flag.”

“Good. I think good”, said the Porto footballer when asked by journalists about the Madeiran after landing at the Humberto Delgado airport in Lisbon just 24 hours after being eliminated from the World Cup in the quarterfinals.

“It is our Portuguese flag. It reaches all over the world. He gave his contribution when he was called and you have to thank him for it ”, added the Portuguese central defender, who had his arm in a cast after having fractured his ulna during the match against Morocco.

Likewise, he took the opportunity to also thank the work of his colleagues: “They tried to give their all, to work as hard as possible, to be able to be available for the coach.” This Sunday, 14 of the 24 Portuguese footballers who came to Qatar to represent their country have landed.

Among those who have stayed in the emirate is Cristiano Ronaldo, whose tears of sadness and frustration after the defeat have gone around the world. The captain of the national team has remained silent except for a publication that he has published this Sunday on networks in which he has assured that “never quit” to the dream of being world champion.

Let’s remember that ‘CR7’ said goodbye to the Qatar 2022 World Cup with a goal on his record, which he achieved in the 3-2 victory over Ghana, in the group stage debut. That annotation served for the forward to enter the history of the tournament: he is the only one who has scored in five different editions.
