The Qatar 2022 World Cup entered its last week and the semifinals will begin to be played from this Tuesday: Argentina vs. Croatia will be the first key to be played and FIFA refines all the details so that the match takes place without major inconveniences. In this sense, the Italian referee Daniele Orsato was appointed to deliver justice.
Through its official website, the highest governing body for soccer in the world announced the choice of the 47-year-old judge, who has extensive experience in UEFA competitions. In the same way, the referee will be assisted by Ciro Carbone and Alessandro Giallatini, his compatriots; while the Emirati Mohammed Abdulla Mohammed will fulfill the work of fourth man.
In addition, the Italians Massimiliano Irrati and Paolo Valeri will be in charge of the Video Assistant Referee, as VAR and AVAR, respectively. Finally, the American Kathryn Nesbitt will take command of the semi-automatic offside and the Venezuelan Juan Soto will be the general assistant of the technological room.
It is worth mentioning that Daniele Orsato has already directed two games in the current World Cup and curiously one of those matches was against the Argentina team. During the group stage, the referee whistled in the ‘Albiceleste’ victory over Mexico (2-0), in which he showed five yellow cards. Previously, the judge was in Qatar vs. Ecuador (0-2), at the opening of the World Cup.
On the other hand, the Italian referee led a Croatian match for the last time on June 13, 2021: the squad led by coach Zlatko Dalic fell to England (1-0) in the Eurocup group round.
