Emma Raducanu has announced another last-minute coaching appointment, leading Sebastian Sachs to reject British legend Andy Murray’s advice.

Sachs’ arrival means Raducanu is now with her fifth manager in 18 months, having already parted ways with Andrew Richardson, Jeremy Bates, Torben Beltz and Dmitry Tursunov.

Raducanu, 20, stunned the tennis world by winning the 2021 US Open. She became the first singles qualifier in the Open Era to win a Grand Slam singles title and the first British woman to do so since Virginia Wade won a major trophy in 1977. .

But she hasn’t found success since – dropping from world No. 10 to No. 76 – with form issues and injuries hampering her 2022 campaign.

The British star has joined forces with Murray’s former coach Jez Green to deal with their ongoing injury woes, but has now signed German coach Sachs to court ahead of next month’s Australian Open.

Murray, a three-time Grand Slam champion and former world number 1, warned Raducanu at the end of October not to change coaches so often.

“I think in any relationship, whether it’s strength and conditioning or tennis, you spend enough time with that person to really make a difference,” Murray told the Daily Mail.

Murray, 35, said in July that he was open to the idea of one day coaching compatriot Raducanu himself.

But at least until the end of 2022, Raducanu will now partner with Sachs, who guided Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic to an Olympic gold medal last year.

“We are testing until the end of the year,” Raducanu said of the decision to bring in their new coach.

“Let’s see how it really goes. It’s going really well so far. I just spent a week with him.

“He really is a silent influence. He insists, is on it and excited to see how it goes.

Raducanu’s former manager Tursunov was also put on probation before they split earlier this year after less than three months.

Meanwhile, Raducanu has revealed she is injury free and feeling great for 2023 – with her first event at the ASB Classic in Auckland on January 2.

“Physically, physically and injury-wise I’m fine now, I’m free,” she said. “Touch wood, it stays that way. I’ve been really working on my fitness for the past two months, not so much on the tennis court. So I’m just trying to get my feel on the court.

Raducanu lost to Wimbledon number two Ons Jabeur on Friday during a spectacle in Abu Dhabi.
