Santa Claus should hand out a lot of PSG jerseys gathered this weekend to Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi. The World Cup final between France and Argentina (3-3 on points, 2-4 on penalties), won by the South Americans, allowed the capital club to increase sales of tunics during the week preceding the event. And two sales peaks were achieved by PSG, on the day of the final, 18 December, and the next day.
Whether online or in stores, the Rouge et Bleu club has seen curves intersect: Lionel Messi was the most requested by the fans on the day of the final, but Kylian Mbappe was well ahead of him the next day. The French hat-trick was marked by spirit, despite the defeat of the Blues.
200% more sales in the final
The kit manufacturer and the club have not released an exact number of shirts sold per day, which is estimated to be in the thousands based on online and in-store sales. Sunday 18 December was a particularly successful day for PSG, with 200% more shirts sold that day, according to Reuters.
