Arsenal and Manchester United have a chance to make the Atletico Madrid star a great deal Joao Felixaccording to reports.

It is almost certain that Felix will leave Atletico in January as his relationship with manager Diego Simeone is on the verge of collapse, but the club must also take him off the books to comply with financial fair play rules.

The striker has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal and United particularly interested, while Chelsea are also said to be in the running.

After Gabriel Jesus’ knee injury and the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, The Gunners and Red Devils urgently need new strength.

However, there is a major obstacle in the way of an easy transfer: Felix’s price tag as Atlético try to recover as much as possible of the €126m they paid Benfica for him in 2019.

Neither club is likely to spend that much money on a single player, or at least not in the upcoming transfer window, and it seems that the La Liga side are realizing they will have to significantly cut their offer to swap the Portugal international.

The Daily Record reports that Atlético will allow Felix to join him on loan for just £8 million as long as the buying club covers his full wages until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old reportedly earns just under £250,000 a week and there is no contractual obligation to purchase the player as part of the proposed deal.

If those conditions are met, clubs will certainly jump at the chance to sign Felix, who is still a very talented striker despite his struggles in Spain.

He has scored 51 goals in 129 games since joining Madrid, with Simeone’s defensive tactics limiting his ability to create and score more.

He played for Portugal at the 2022 World Cup, scoring one goal and two assists in four games alongside Ronaldo and United stars Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot.
