“I got Messi tattooed as a sign of gratitude,” says Nicolas Rehanick, an official who now has Messi wearing a white jersey with a blue stripe and hugging the Golden Cup on his left leg. “He represents not only who Messi is, but also the team that brought us our third World Cup and all the years of effort towards that goal.”

“When everyone was losing confidence, I told myself that I would get the Cup tattoo if Argentina won it. So I did, indicating the date of victory,” says Alma Ocampo, a 20-year-old girl who has been playing football since childhood.
