Juan Román Riquelme will run for the presidency of Boca Juniors

The ex-footballer Juan roman riquelmecurrent vice president and one of the greatest idols in the history of Boca Juniors Argentinian, launched this Tuesday into the race for the leadership of the ‘xeneize’ club.

Before some 10,000 fans, most of them dressed in the blue and gold colors of the Ribera team, Riquelme announced the creation of “Soy Bostero”, the group with which he will run at the end of 2023 for the elections to preside over the entity.

“When I was little (my dad) made me Boca. I dreamed of playing at La Bombonera and three years ago it was once again the most beautiful pitch in the world. Our players are grateful for the welcome you give them every Sunday, every Wednesday… Our house is a party. Hopefully we can be there for many more years and they help us, ”he said.

The former soccer player, winner of 3 editions of the Copa Libertadores, one of the Intercontinental and another of the Recopa Sudamericana as a player for Boca Juniors and an Intertoto Cup with the Spanish Villarreal, as well as being an under-20 world and Olympic champion with the national team Argentina, was accompanied by the club’s president, Jorge Ameal.

On the opposition side, Andrés Ibarra recently presented his candidacy with the support of former club president Mauricio Macri (1995-2008), who later became Argentine head of state (2015-2019).
