PSG: playing time, goals, form… Where are the players on loan?

This season, PSG is represented in four corners of Europe. Fourteen players left the capital club on loan last summer, most of them at the very end of the transfer window. While some haven’t noticed much since the beginning of the season in their new jersey, others have been showing beautiful colors for several weeks now. This situation worries leaders, who are wary of reinstating all these players at the end of the season and weighing down their recruiting package yet again.

Icardi delighted with Turkey, Dina Ebimbe is the most used player

He was undoubtedly the one who started the farthest, between his cutesy performances for PSG and the rollercoaster ride in his personal life: Mauro Icardi (29) performs well in Galatasaray. After a timid start, the striker, who played 7 games (out of 12 possible) for the Turkish club, was decisive nine times in the last five matches (5 goals, 4 assists) and showed himself well during the derby with Fenerbahce. January 8.

Not being undisputed holders, two players loaned to Germany, Abdu Diallo (26) to RB Leipzig and Eric Junior Dina Abimbe (22) at Eintracht Frankfurt, each played the first part of the season to the fullest. The Senegalese defender, who played at the World Cup, regularly got into the squad from the start (11 games played, including 8 starts).

The French midfielder is the most used player among PSG loan players (17 games, 2 goals, 1 assist) and has even started playing non-stop since October. As a reminder, his loan comes with a purchase option that will become mandatory if Frankfurt remains in the Bundesliga.

Draxler, Paredes, Kurzawa are true to themselves

We haven’t seen him in over two months and his first Premier League match against Fulham (October 1), Layvin Kurzawa (30) started 2023 with a goal in the FA Cup on 7 January. It was only the second game for the defender, who was out of action all of October with an injury.

Julian Draxler (29 years old) and Leandro Paredes (28 years old) played a few more matches, but does not convince. At Benfica (D 1 Portugal), the German has never made it into the starting XI, and even if he is regularly used (14 games played, 589 minutes, 5 starts), he too rarely plays a decisive role (2 goals).

The Argentine, who was crowned world champion this winter in Doha, will find a balm there to start his season, which he started as title holder at Juventus, before losing his seat. He hasn’t started a game since September but has been in the game every single time, both in Serie A and in the Champions League. It’s always more thanAnder Herrera (33), who has yet to play a full match against Bilbao.

After a period of adjustment during which he developed with the Sunderland U21s, Edward Michut (aged 19) recently tied his first three first-team stints with English club D 2. It’s a dynamic reverse of that of Colin Dagba (24), who made 9 appearances between Ligue 1 days 5 and 15 against Strasbourg but had to deal with injuries.

Always among the youth Jady Gassama (19 years old), at KAS Eupen in Belgium D 1 and Kenny Nagera (20 years), with FC Lorient reserves, collect good minutes of play, especially the second.

Wijnaldum, tiles

There are three players left who have hardly played this season. First the poor Georginio Wijnaldum (32 years old), who played two short matches with Roma in a friendly match and in Serie A, after which he broke his lower leg. The Dutchman recently resumed the path of collective training.

Finally two young players, former U19 captain Mutanabi Bodyang (19 years old) and Anfane Ahamada (20 years). The first has not been called to Le Puy Foot (National) since September. The second has 31 minutes (3 games) in total with Martigues (National).
