According to Luke Shaw, Manchester United have what it takes to win an unprecedented quadruple of trophies this season.

Following United’s derby win over Manchester City on Saturday, some now see the Red Devils as genuine contenders for the Premier League title.

Erik ten Hag’s side are currently fourth in the table, nine points clear of league leaders Arsenal, one point behind City and level with Newcastle with a game in hand against the Magpies.

Outside the competition, United are still represented in all four major leagues, having reached the fourth round of the FA Cup, where they host Reading, and the knockout round of the Europa League, where they meet Barcelona.

They are also favorites to win the Carabao Cup after reaching the semi-finals where they will play Nottingham Forest for a place in the final against Newcastle or Southampton in February.

It was quite a turning point for the club, who started the season with two devastating defeats, but after nine straight wins, defender Shaw believes United can give it their all.

“At the moment we as a team have to ensure the right consistency in terms of performance and results,” says the 27-year-old.

“It’s always about winning. Whether you play well or not, you have to win, and we started doing that recently.

“We are still in four leagues. We are Manchester United, we have to aim high.

“Of course all four of us want to win, but whether that happens or not depends on us, how we behave, how we rest and how we prepare for the next game.

“Now we have to forget that game, forget that win, because we have a huge game against Crystal Palace on Wednesday.”

United are expected to wipe out a Palace side who have lost six of their last seven games and have gone unscored in five of them.

But they will face what is arguably their biggest challenge next Sunday when they travel to Emirates to take on Arsenal in what is billed by many as a title decider.
