Arsenal are poised to hijack Chelsea’s moves for Brighton star Moises Caicedo and Everton striker Amadou Onana.

Chelsea failed with two bids for Caicedo last week, the second of which was valued at around £55 million.

The Ecuador international is eager to move to Stamford Bridge, although he said on Tuesday he was focused on staying with the Seagulls.

“My focus is on Brighton,” said the midfielder.

“I’m here, I play every day. External things don’t bother me and it doesn’t take away my focus because that’s all I focus on.”

The Seagulls are expected to reject any bid for the midfielder this summer, but are realistic about keeping Caicedo long-term.

That raises the possibility of Caicedo leaving in the summer and the Evening Standard says the Gunners will challenge Chelsea for the midfielder.

It comes after Chelsea beat Arsenal in the signing of Ukrainian star Mykhailo Mudryk earlier this month, with The Blues offering Shakhtar Donestk a better financial package for the winger.

Mikel Arteta is keen to sign a defensive midfielder this summer and has identified Declan Rice as his main target.

But West Ham could ask for up to £100 million for the England star, which has forced The Gunners to look for alternative targets.

That has led The Gunners to take an interest in another Chelsea target, Onana.

The midfielder has been one of Everton’s few assets this season and his energetic display caught the attention of The Gunners.

Everton will not sell this month, especially after the sacking of Frank Lampard.

However, should the Toffees be relegated, it will be much easier to snatch Onana from Goodison Park and Arsenal will battle for his signature against Chelsea.
