Corruption of a minor: sentenced Bruno Martini resigns as president of the National Handball League

Sentenced to a one-year suspended sentence on January 25 for acts of sexual abuse of a minor to which he confessed, Bruno Martini stepped down after taking over as president of the National Handball League. The former France goalkeeper, two-time world champion in 1995 and 2001, has led French professional handball since the end of 2021. “After the resignation of Bruno Martini, a meeting of the Board of the League will take place. on Thursday, January 26, to organize an interim ahead of the elected General Assembly already scheduled for March 7, ”explained in an NHL press release released Wednesday afternoon.

Bruno Martini was the subject of an investigation launched in June 2020 by the Paris prosecutor’s office and handed over to the Brigade for the Protection of Minors (BPM). The former PSG Handball player and general manager was discussing several minors via Snapchat at the time. He used this social network to share nude photos with a teenager who was 12 at the time. Then Bruno Martini invited him to his Parisian home for sexual relations, not knowing, according to him, the exact age of his interlocutor. The teenager would change his mind once at the bottom of the former player’s building before returning home to the VTC paid by the former handball player.
