Didi Hamann has hailed Victor Osimhen as the ‘best striker in the world’ and insists Manchester United and Chelsea’s transfer target is ‘probably better’ than Erling Haaland.

Nigerian striker Osimhen is having a sensational season at Napoli. He scored 23 goals in 28 games, helping Luciano Spalletti’s side take an 18-point lead in Serie A and into the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

A number of clubs have been linked with summer moves for Osimhen and Hamann says “every top club” should be able to sign this summer.

The former Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Germany midfielder even thinks Osimhen is better than Haaland, who had an equally impressive season at Etihad.

The Norwegian talisman scored 45 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions to become Man City’s top goalscorer in a single season after scoring five goals in the 7-0 mid-week defeat to RB Leipzig.

Still, Hamann prefers Osimhen over Haaland, telling BestGamblingSites, “For me, Osimhen is probably a better all-round player than Haaland right now and is a better fit for the game.

“Haaland is a very direct player and I made sure he really fits into the Man City team.

“Looking at his goals and statistics, he can prove me wrong at the moment, but at the end of the season he could still be without trophies.”

“I think he is a player that every top club should bet on, because for me Osimhen is the best striker in the world right now.”

Although Osimhen is enjoying his time with nominated Serie A champions Napoli, he admitted earlier this month that his “dream” was to one day move to the Premier League.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with a transfer of the 24-year-old as Erik ten Hag is looking for a long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, while Chelsea are also considering a transfer to solve his scoring problem.

“Playing in one of the top five leagues in the world feels great to me and it’s a good fit,” Osimhen said earlier this month.

“Now I am in one of the best leagues in the world, the Italian Serie A. But of course many people around the world consider the Premier League to be the best and strongest league.

“I’m working so hard to make sure that one day I can fulfill my dream of playing in the Premier League. But like I said, it’s a process and I just want to keep the momentum going and keep doing well. ”
