Chelsea outcast Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has “liked” a post on Instagram confirming news of Graham Potter’s sacking.

Potter was released on Sunday night after less than seven months in the role following a terrible run of results that saw the side finish 11th in the Premier League.

During his brief tenure with the Blues, he froze 33-year-old striker Aubameyang, who had not played for Chelsea since February.

He was last seen in Barcelona attending the team’s celebration after they beat Real Madrid two weeks ago.

Former Arsenal captain Aubameyang only joined from Barcelona last summer but is expected to leave West London at the end of the season.

Aubameyang appeared to enjoy Potter’s firing and clicked a like on the Instagram post to confirm his departure.

The Gabonese international was given the opportunity to leave Chelsea on loan in January, but turned down a transfer to Los Angeles FC.

Meanwhile, Bruno Saltor takes over provisional charge of Chelsea when they return to action against Liverpool on Tuesday night.

A statement from the club read: “Chelsea FC have announced that Graham Potter has left the club. Graham has agreed to work with the club to ensure a smooth transition.

“During his time at the club, Graham guided us to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, where we will meet Real Madrid. Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contribution and wish him all the best for the future.”

A further statement from co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali said: “On behalf of everyone at the club, we would like to sincerely thank Graham for his contribution to Chelsea.

“We have the utmost respect for Graham as a coach and as a person. He has always acted professionally and with integrity and we are all disappointed with that result.

“Together with our incredible fans, we will all be behind Bruno and the team as we focus on the rest of the season. We have ten Premier League games left and a Champions League quarter-final ahead of us.

“We are going to do everything we can and commit to each of those games so that we can finish the season on a high note.”
