How was the Hawks vs. Heat?

With 25 points from its star Trae Young, the Atlanta Hawks prevailed on Tuesday 116-105 on the field of the Miami Heat and won the ticket to the NBA playoffs, where they will face the Boston Celtics.

The clash was the first of the playoff playoff qualifiers (‘play in’), which will also live this Tuesday the duel between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

With their victory in Miami, the Hawks will be the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference in the first round of the playoffs and will face the Celtics, second seed and current runner-up in the NBA.

The Heat, for their part, will have a second chance on Friday to get a ticket to the postseason, for which they will have to beat the winner of Wednesday’s duel between the Toronto Raptors and the Chicago Bulls.

Miami, which reached all the way to the Conference Finals last season, trailed the Hawks throughout the game in front of nearly 20,000 fans at the Kaseya Center.

Starting off the bench, veteran Kyle Lowry led the Heat’s resistance with 33 points, his highest mark since arriving in Florida in 2021.

The team’s figure, Jimmy Butler, had 21 points and 9 rebounds.

Trae Young led the way with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the Hawks, who also took advantage of a great performance from their bench, who added 53 of their 116 points.

The Hawks entered the clash under great pressure after a very disappointing regular season in which, despite their large investment in signings, especially guard Dejounte Murray (18 points), they finished in eighth place in the East with 41 wins and 41 losses.

In the hours before the game, the US media reported that Atlanta is preparing big changes for this offseason that could even include the transfer of its jewel Trae Young, a two-time All-Star at 24 years of age.

Atlanta started strongly in Miami thanks to its second unit and came to enjoy a maximum advantage of 24 points (63-39) at halftime.

The Heat were proud and, on the shoulders of Lowry’s success, signed an 18-5 run after the break and came within just five points.

But Trae Young took control of the game again and the Hawks rolled up their sleeves defensively and especially rebounding, posting a season-high 22 sacks on offense.

Center Clint Capela, especially, was a colossus in the paint with 21 rebounds, 8 of them offensive.

The Hawks thus celebrated a small revenge of the elimination against Miami in the first round of last year.
