PSG: “It was hot, with his heart”: the underside of Mbappe’s anger, told by his mother

“PSG is a great club, but it’s definitely not Kylian Saint-Germain.” Kylian Mbappé was not at a loss for words after discovering a clip filmed as part of the club’s resubscription campaign on April 6. In a message posted on social media, the French striker strongly criticized a promotional video posted by PSG almost exclusively dedicated to him.

“He was angry,” recalls his mother, Faiza Lamari, on the set of Sports etc. About the Public Senate. “He called me, as he often does. When he decides to act on social media, he still finds time to call two or three people. I understood his grief and at the same time told him, “Now is not the time to react. Let him go and there will always be time to restore the truth.” To which he replied, “No, no, I don’t want to wait. I know the consequences and I will accept them. »

“It was hot, with soul, because he was whole. He just replied like a child who was born with social media, everyone has their own communication,” adds who is the president of the company that manages the rights to Kylian Mbappe’s image, KEWJF.

“There was no conflict”

As Kylian Mbappe pointed out in his initial social media post, Faiza Lamari also confirms that he was unaware of the alleged use of videos taken with the Frenchman. “We were warned about image capture, but we didn’t know what it was for,” she promises.

“We figured it out very quickly. There was no conflict. The argument that Kylian makes is positioning in the locker room. PSG will always be PSG, Kylian stays or leaves. The men leave, but the club remains,” continues Faiza Lamari.

But her time on the set of the Public Senate was first and foremost an opportunity for her to discuss Kylian Mbappe’s repeated and longstanding stance on image rights. In September 2022, Kylian Mbappe, for example, decided not to participate in a scheduled photo shoot with the French team for marketing operations.

“It’s not about the money”

Position on image rights whose origins date back to previous years, according to the player’s mother: “Image rights, we have been discussing them with the FFF since the 2018 World Cup. For three years we have been trying to find an agreement that does not come. Then comes Euro 2021 where he misses a penalty and we are out. It was followed by over 1 million predominantly racist tweets without any official backing. Life was very difficult. The icing on the cake was the next day. We find life-size signs of Kylian in supermarkets, making advertisements (Ed. note: for suitcases): It’s time to pack our bags, we’re going home … This served as a trigger. »

A fight that, according to Faiza Lamari, “is not a story of money.” Rather, the goal, she says, is “to say: if we give you our rights to the image, we can’t be harmed by it after a while.” Recall that since 2017 and the arrival of Kylian Mbappe in the French national team, bonuses paid to the player in connection with the image rights are transferred to associations.
