Barcelona vs. Wolfsburg: day and time of the women’s Champions League final

Wolfsburg qualified this Monday for the final of the women’s Champions League by eliminating Arsenal after extra time (3-2) at the Emirates Stadium in London, and will face FC Barcelona for the title.

After the 2-2 first leg, the German team beat the ‘Gunners’ at the end of a vibrant game decided with a goal from Pauline Bremer in the 119th minute.

The substitutions proved to be successful in the German team, since, when the clash inexorably headed towards penalties, Jule Brand gave Bremer the goal assist, a combination between two players who started the clash on the substitute bench.

Before that, the Swedish Stina Blackstenius, already a scorer in the first leg, opened the scoring for the locals (11).

Wolfsburg equalized with a half volley from the Dutch Jill Roord (42), a former Arsenal player. Alexandra Popp put the Germans ahead in the 58th minute, although the locals took the match into extra time after Jennifer Beattie’s headed goal (75).

The ‘Gunners’ had already recovered from a compromised situation in the first leg, when they lost 2-0 in the 24th minute of the game. But after Bremer’s goal there was no time for another heroism.

Barça and its Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas, who returned to the pitch in the Spanish League last weekend after suffering a serious knee injury, had qualified for the final by eliminating Chelsea (0-1, 1- 1).

For the Catalans it will be their third consecutive Champions League final (won against Chelsea in 2021, lost in 2022).

What day is the 2023 Women’s Champions League final played?
