With goals from Mateo Coronel for the local team and Joaquín Pereyra, against the “Millionaire” in the 86th minute, River added its first draw in the tournament in a season with 11 wins and two losses.
Meanwhile, Boca Juniors won again at their stadium, ‘La Bombonera’, after three consecutive falls by beating Racing Club 3-1 with goals from Martín Payero, Guillermo Pol Fernández and Miguel Ángel Merentiel for the winner and Nicolás Reniero for the loser
Boca, far from the leader River with just 18 points will reach next Sunday’s superclassic at the Monumental stadium, 16 units behind in thirteenth position.
With these results, plus the goalless draw of the guard San Lorenzo against Vélez Sarsfield as a visitor, River remains the leader with 34 units with a six-point advantage over San Lorenzo, while Boca is in thirteenth position with 18 points.
