Napoli is Serie A champion after drawing against Udinese

Napoli, absolute dominator this season at ‘Calcio’, was proclaimed champion of Serie A for the third time in its history by drawing 1-1 on their visit to Udinese, this Thursday at the end of matchday 33.

The current generation led by Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia thus emulates what was achieved by the team of the ‘Maradona years’, when the club’s first league titles were won (1987, 1990).

It was enough for Naples this Thursday to score in this match in Udine against the twelfth-ranked team and they did not fail.

Udinese took the lead in minute 13 through Sandi Lovric and the visitors leveled the score in minute 52 through Osimhen.

The ‘tifosi’ were therefore able to uncork the ‘prosecco’ and unleash some celebrations that they had been preparing for weeks, due to the great advantage that Napoli soon achieved in the standings and that made this title anything but a surprise.

Napoli had wasted last Sunday the chance to win the ‘Scudetto’ at their own Diego Maradona stadium. They needed to win and could only draw 1-1 against Salernitana in a derby.

On Wednesday they could have been champions without playing, if Lazio (2nd) had not beaten Sassuolo, but the Roman team made it 2-0 and delayed the celebrations again.

But Luciano Spalletti’s pupils did not waste the ‘match-ball’ this Thursday and succeed AC Milan in the list of winners, precisely the club that eliminated him last month in the Champions League quarterfinals.

That pulse lost against the ‘rossoneri’ was disappointing but it was the season in which Napoli went further in the highest European competition.

In the Italian Cup, yes, they disappointed with an elimination in the round of 16 against Cremonese, a team that is barely penultimate in Serie A and has a difficult time remaining in the elite.
