The Mexican Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez retained the super middleweight world champion title by beating British John ‘Gorilla’ Ryder by unanimous decision on Saturday, in a fight held at the Akron stadium in Guadalajara.
After the 12 rounds of the stellar fight of the function called “The King comes home”, which was attended by some 50 thousand spectators, the judges gave Álvarez the victory with the following scores: 120-107, 118-109 and 118-109.
After the great fight, some users emphasized the scenario where Álvarez retained his world titles. “This ring size for the Canelo fight is the SMALLEST I have ever seen! Looks like kids should be fighting in it!”wrote a user on Twitter.
“Canelo Álvarez should benefit from a small ring. John Ryder will have nowhere to hide inside Guadalajara’s 18-foot (5.4-meter) ring,” considered another, while a third said, “It’s going to be a short night for Canelo with that size ring.”another said.
“Alvarez is always comfortable fighting close to his opponents, and the smaller ring size means Ryder will have less room for error.”another fan was read.
